New Hire Enrollment

As a new hire, you must elect coverage within 31 days of your benefits eligibility date in BenefitSource. Coverage begins on the 1st of the following month of your eligibility date.

Annual Open Enrollment

You can enroll in benefits coverage for the next plan year during the Open Enrollment period, usually held in October/November. Coverage begins on January 1 and no changes can made unless a qualifying life event occurs.

Qualifying Life Events

Mid-year qualifying life events, both planned and unplanned, may affect your current benefit elections. These qualifying life events may allow you to make coverage changes before the next Open Enrollment period:
  • A change in the number of dependents
    • Birth or adoption of a child
    • A covered child is no longer an eligible dependent
    • Covered child turns age 26
  • A change in your spouse/domestic’s partner’s employment status
  • A change in your legal marital status (marriage, divorce, or legal separation)
  • Changes in address or location that may affect coverage
  • Entitlement to Medicare or Medicaid
  • Death of your spouse/domestic partner or covered child
A change in benefits request can be easily submitted in BenefitSource. You will be required to submit documentation supporting your change in status within 60 days of the qualifying life event.

Certify Working Spouse Status

An extra $100 monthly surcharge will apply if you enroll a spouse who is covered under another medical plan. To avoid this surcharge, the Working Spouse Status question must be answered every year during Open Enrollment in BenefitSource. Please submit a Working Spouse Status affidavit if your status changes.

Confirm Tobacco Use

An extra $150 per person monthly surcharge will apply if you and/or your covered spouse use tobacco and enroll in a Lennox medical plan. To avoid this surcharge, the Tobacco Use question must be answered every year during Open Enrollment in BenefitSource. Please submit a Tobacco Use affidavit if your status changes.

Complete an Annual Health Screening

Lennox medical plan members and their covered spouses can complete a free annual health screening to avoid the $75 per person monthly Wellness Surcharge in the next plan year. New hires’ initial health screening results will establish a baseline for your health in the current plan year.
