Benefit Features
- Regular preventive care is always covered at 100%.
- Use Delta Dental’s cost estimator tool to keep out-of-pocket costs at a minimum.
- In-network dentists from Delta Dental’s PPO Network will offer you the highest level of benefits at the lowest cost (note, the terms DPO and PPO are used interchangeably and both terms mean the same).
- Delta Dental Virtual Consult connects plan members with a licensed dentist via real-time video appointments – at no additional cost.
Good dental care not only protects your smile, but it can also help you stay healthy.
Your dental plan will cover services provided by any licensed provider but using a Delta Dental network provider will keep your costs lower.
Remember, using an in-network provider will always save you the most money.
If you use an in-network dental provider, you’ll pay the dentist’s negotiated fees. Negotiated fees are the discounted amount that participating dentists have agreed to accept as payment in full, subject to any copays, deductibles, cost-sharing, and benefit maximum. Negotiated fees are subject to change.
If you use an out-of-network dental provider, you will be responsible for paying any charges above the Reasonable and Customary (R&C) fees. R&C fees are based on the lowest of 1) the dentist’s actual charge, 2) the dentist’s usual charge for the same or similar services, or 3) the charge of most dentists in the same geographic area for the same or similar services as determined by Delta Dental.

Provider | Benefit |
Delta Dental PPO Provider | Offers the best discount. |
Delta Dental Premier Provider | Offers set fees. Members will save but not as much as with a PPO provider. |
Out-of-Network Provider | Members will pay whatever the dentist charges for their practice and will have to submit their own claims. This is the least cost effective. |
