Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
Under the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), all employees may be eligible to take up to 12 weeks of job-protected unpaid leave during any 12-month period for one or more of the following reasons:- Your health care provider has determined you are unable to work due to serious illness or injury.
- To care for an immediate family member with a serious health condition or undergoing treatment.
- Incapacity due to pregnancy or to care for your newborn child.
- To care for your recently adopted or foster care child.
- To care for your spouse, child or parent on the temporary disability retired list for an injury incurred while on active duty in the Armed Forces.
Birthing & Maternity Leave
Eligible employees who are birthing mothers may take up to 8 consecutive weeks of paid leave if they:- Work at least 20 hours per week
- Complete one month of continuous service before giving birth
Bonding Leave
Eligible employees can take up to 2 weeks of paid leave to bond with your new child.You can use this benefit within 12 months of birth, adoption, or if you are appointed as the legal guardian of a child, regardless of your gender or marital status. NOTE: Bonding leave can be used in addition to maternity leave.
